Monique Nelson Sigler, LMFT

Monique Sigler is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in San Luis Obispo with over 17 years of experience in mental health and wellness.

 

A Central Coast native, Monique provides compassionate, holistic therapy for individuals and families throughout San Luis Obispo County and virtually throughout California, offering care that integrates both traditional psychotherapy and mind-body approaches.

Therapeutic Approach & Experience

Monique specializes in women’s mental health, trauma therapy, and maternal and perinatal mental health, supporting clients through pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, and major life transitions. She works with adults, teens, and college students, meeting each client with warmth, presence, and respect for their unique lived experience.

 

Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, integrative, and culturally sensitive, drawing from evidence-based practices, somatic psychotherapy, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation. As a trained trauma therapist and yoga instructor, Monique helps clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and body sensations—supporting greater balance, resilience, and emotional well-being.

As a certified maternal and perinatal mental health therapist, Monique is honored to walk alongside clients during pregnancy, the transition to motherhood, and the postpartum period. She also supports women across all stages of life, whether or not they are parents.

Monique is the Clinical Supervisor and President of Swell Therapy & Wellness in San Luis Obispo, where she leads a team of skilled and supportive therapists. Her clinical background includes work with foster youth and adoptive families, and she also teaches Psychology and Child Development at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Monique earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Davis, and her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from  Antioch University, Santa Barbara.

Outside of the therapy room, Monique enjoys hiking Avila Ridge and Pismo Preserve, gardening, yoga, cooking, and surfing along the Central Coast.  She values time in nature and with her husband, CJ, their son, Mateo, and their two Australian Shepherds, Ginger and Maverick.

Cassidy Urbany, AMFT

Cassidy is an Associate marriage and family therapist who supports clients in building a more grounded, authentic connection with themselves.

 

Her approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and rooted in curiosity, compassion, and respect for each client’s strengths and values.

She integrates modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic awareness, CBT, and psychodynamic therapy to meet the unique needs of each individual.

 

Cassidy has experience working with trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, low self-worth, and patterns of perfectionism and people-pleasing.  Clients appreciate her calm, attuned presence and the safe, supportive environment she fosters for meaningful growth and healing.

Lindsey Melendrez, APCC

Associate Professional Clinical Counselor # 18466

Lindsey has called San Luis Obispo home for over 15 years and is honored to offer healing spaces here on the Central Coast. She is passionate about supporting individuals and couples through life’s joys and challenges, creating grounding environments for connection and growth.

 

Lindsey holds a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from Cal Poly SLO, and a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University, in Irvine.  Her clinical experience includes working with college students, young professionals, parents (including those raising children with disabilities), and couples.  She has also served as a cultural consultant for teams and organizations. 

 

Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, relational conflict, perinatal and postpartum mental health, and intercultural or interracial relationships. Lindsey’s approach is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and strength-based.  She is trained in Gottman Method Couples therapy (Levels 1 & 2) and integrates evidence-based practices like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

 

Outside the therapy room, Lindsey enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, spending time in nature with family and friends.  She feels deeply grateful to live and work in such a vibrant, connected community like the Central Coast.

Tawny Sterios, AMFT

Tawny Sterios, AMFT, is a mother, wife,  psychotherapist, yoga teacher, Qoya dancer, birth and postpartum doula, circle and retreat guide, and nature enthusiast. For over 20 years, she has been offering movement classes, guiding women’s circles, and leading retreats around the world.

Tawny earned her Master’s in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and specializes in Somatic Depth Therapy- integrating body, mind, and creative practices to support healing and transformation.

​

Her sessions incorporate breath work, movement, grounding, and nature-based practices, tailored to each person’s unique needs, helping clients shift patterns, build resilience, and reconnect with their vitality.
